Charlie
(Designed for Starex Manufacturing)
Taking its cues from Starex’s classic ‘Chair with Arms’, Charlie (along with accompanying Pommel) is designed for young children in need of extra support when seated and when maneuvering in and out of a seat. After the need for a ‘standard’ chair for infants and toddlers was identified as a necessary product offering, many different concepts were explored before traditional styling and construction techniques were landed upon as appropriate factors to embrace, rather than deviate from, in the overall form.
Constructed from parts that are already produced in bulk for other chairs in the company’s standard range, Charlie thus improves upon production efficiencies, whilst still allowing for greater customization than Starex legacy chairs. The design and build of a unique welding jig for the tubular steel frame further sped up production time in the company’s engineering department.
The removable Pommel can be easily fitted with just an Allen Key, securing firmly to the seat. When fitted, younger children are afforded greater support and are prevented from sliding forward when seated.
